Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges

Leila’s psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn’t sure what the future holds. If that weren’t enough, her lover Vlad has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she’s also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever–especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won’t admit that he loves her . . .

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust– the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity . . .

Vlad is back! It's been a couple of months since Once Burned. Leila is still living with Vlad. Unfortunately for Leila not much else has changed. Vlad still refuses to admit he loves Leila. Leila is worried about her powers coming back, but that pales in comparison to her worries about Vlad. Her heart can no longer handle Vlad's cold and distant behavior. The time has come for Leila to make a choice. Stay with Vlad who refuses to admit he loves her or spend the rest of her life without the man she loves most. Twice Tempted is fast-paced, action packed and an emotional roller coaster.

The first 22 chapters show Vlad's other persona. Not the relaxed Vlad from the Night Huntress series. We see Vlad the ruler, who is a constant arrogant jackass. Although it's not my favorite side of Vlad, it was nice to see how he's forced to act around other vampires and his people.

I feel a little sorry for Leila in this book. It takes her so long to realize the Vlad has to act a certain way when other people are around and that her actions are a direct reflection upon him. It completely sucks, but hey living in a castle comes with a particular set of rules. I love the compromise she found. Leila manages to keep who she is without compromising the safety that Vlad spent his entire undead life working for.

I can't wait for the next book in this stellar series. As always, I will be impatiently waiting.

Favorite Quotes

This wasn't the first time I'd woken up as a captive. It wasn't even the second. I so needed to reevaluate my life choices.
"What happened?"
"You started hemorrhaging from your eyes, ears, and nose. Then your heart stopped. I had to give you CPR and blood to bring you back."
"This day sucks."
Make myself crazy? I thought bleakly. All signs indicated that I was already there.
"Looks like we're having angry sex after all."
"What's going on? And why do you look like you rolled in the floor of a slaughterhouse?"
